I thought that the other project might interest you about auto updating qt projects with a clean api -> QInstallerBridge

well I never said this is a support , Its an alternative to your project where you do the same updating without the maintainance tool and QProcess. ( Only the configuration file [ Created by the installer ] which points to the remote repo created by repogen ). It actually provides you a alternative core for your updater...
