Rotation of the device opens an additional instance of the video
When changing the orientation of the device from landscape to portrait or vice versa each time an additional instance of the video gets started. Effects:
- the audio of all instances is mixed.
- The replay circle / button on the top right is multiplied (an shows the number of instances)
How to reproduce
- in the Android settings change the display setting to 'Rotate screen automatically: on' if necessary
- start the app
- Choose and start a video
- Change the device orientation one or several times
- Enjoy the funny audio performance ;)
The device is a Pixel 7 with Android 14 (same with former 13) The app is SkyTube v2.987 download from FDroid.
Work around: set SkyTube video player to 'legacy'.
Same here, Pixel 6a running Android 14 (GrapheneOS).
I have rotation lock set to ~~landscape~~ portrait, so every video plays twice due to the initial rotation. Legacy player indeed solves the problem but it's kinda bad compared to the new one.
Another workaround is to let the video play a couple seconds, close it and re-open it. Letting it resume to the last played time results on only one instance of the video.
