Code of Conduct Needed for SketchUp GitHub Projects

See this GitHub Help Article ...

https://help.github.com/articles/adding-a-code-of-conduct-to-your-project/

Needed because of recent disrespectful, churlish and insulting behavior by at least one participant against others. Such behavior as calling other participants opinions "stupid" or publicly slandering another's professional abilities must not be allowed, nor go unpunished.

Another good example is the YARD repo code of conduct https://github.com/lsegal/yard/blob/master/CODE_OF_CONDUCT.md which says ...

This document provides community guidelines for a safe, respectful, productive, and collaborative place for any person who is willing to contribute to the YARD project. It applies to all “collaborative space”, which is defined as community communications channels (such as mailing lists, submitted patches, commit comments, etc.).

  • Participants will be tolerant of opposing views.

  • Participants must ensure that their language and actions are free of personal attacks and disparaging personal remarks.

  • When interpreting the words and actions of others, participants should always assume good intentions.

  • Behaviour which can be reasonably considered harassment will not be tolerated.

Recently, there have been instances of disrespectful and unprofessional behavior within this project’s discussions—such as name-calling, dismissive remarks like labeling opinions as "stupid," and public slandering of professional abilities. This kind of conduct is harmful to our community and is unacceptable.

To ensure a positive, inclusive, and respectful environment for all contributors, I propose we adopt a Code of Conduct following GitHub’s recommended guidelines:

Adding a Code of Conduct to your project — GitHub Help

A clear Code of Conduct will set expectations for behavior, encourage constructive interactions, and outline consequences for violations. This is essential for fostering collaboration and maintaining professionalism in our project.

I am happy to help draft and submit a standard Code of Conduct, such as the Contributor Covenant, for this repository. Please share your thoughts.
