Unjustified SIM CLI breaking changes in v.1.5.0.179
The latest SIM v1.5.0.179 has removed the CLI tool:
Remove Command Line version (thanks to SIF, not needed anymore)
I'd like to remind that the SIF is used for Sitecore 9 and later while SIM was used for the wide range of Sitecore versions including all the 8.x line. IMO, removing the feature is absolutely unjustified and just makes unnecessary obstacles for legacy projects relying on the feature.
Thoughts?
This command line tool was POC that never reached the point to be sufficient to be used in real life. And it makes more sense to make SIF (its parts) deploy previous versions of Sitecore.
Yea, I realize you may dislike it, but it has been released to public. It cannot be removed because author does not like it (at least without bumping the major version and suggesting a working alternative). That's not how OSS works.
I'd suggest to restore the feature, mark it 'deprecated' for SIM 1.5 and remove it in v2. That would be at least predictable product development workflow.
The project is in sustained support mode, team will only deliver minimal required fixes to make it work in main use cases, unless new product owner decides differently. You are welcome to make a fork and maintain cmd version there.
