Combo count (among other elements) does not display properly in "groove" game mode

Playing any file using the groove game mode setting in Project Outfox 0.5.0-pre042 (which is a variant of dance but with mods) causes strange behaviour in gameplay in SL 5.4.0. The combo counter never shows anything and miss count doesn't go away after hitting a judgment better than Decent. (even with the FA+ settings) Background filter does not display either, and measure counter is larger than usual.
