Error 101 while sending text

Phone: Oneplus Nord N10 5G Android: Oxygen OS 11.0.13.BE86AA App version: 5.18.2

Since a few releases back, the app would randomly fail to send text messages. I was able to get a glimpse at the error "101" but couldn't take a screenshot in time.

Waiting for 1-2 minutes, it eventually fails:

After resending the text, it goes through. It's not a network issue. I have full signal.

Have the same problem on my Motorola Thinkphone with SMS messenger 5.19.3 except that it fails constantly. Will move away from this app that does not master its main feature.
