Not receiving MMS messages /New feature - manual download
Since receiving mms messages is highly unstable. Basically not working Is there a possibility to add option to manually download?
e.g We get a message that a new MMS is available and manually download it afterwards?
Such feature is available in other apps(not up to date or has some anti-features)
Picture of such feature in https://git.silence.dev (app is abandoned and doesn't work on some devices)
what app and OS version are you using?
I tried on various Android versions. Simple SMS messenger is unreliable for MMS to be received. I think mobile data has to be on all the time to receive mms. I can't afford to test that.
While testing Silence(link above) on older phones/android versions where app didn't crash on launch. It worked. But I had to enable both WI-FI & mobile data to download MMS.
Currently using on Android 13*. With Simple SMS messenger. SMS works. MMS doesn't.
I don't think android version matters. I think it has to do something with APN settings. What exactly I don't know. I think you could look how Silence APN works.
In past I also tried: https://f-droid.org/en/packages/com.moez.QKSMS/ Had the same problem like with Simple SMS Messenger.

our app has no internet access, maybe thats what is needed for it
I think that manual download is especially important on one case. If you receive a MMS while mobile data is off you wont know you have a pending mms. That button would allow you to download it after restoring mobile data. This is what Los messages app does.
I agree with @farfromrefug I'm facing the same problem. I have to disable the internet access most of the time and a/ there is no notification of a pending MMS, b/ I couldn't find a way to download pending MMS (and it is not automatically downloaded after turning on mobile data).
@tibbi, any news about this?
