Simple-SMS-Messenger Odd file size changes during export

I was going to say that it does not export all messages, but it is difficult to tell that for sure. Based on using more and tail commands with the file, the dates I see in messages at the top and bottom of the file are years old, so if the file is in date order than this is definitely not all my messages. But I saw another issue posting suggesting that the export may not be in date order.

The oddness I see is in how the file size of the export changes. I can watch the size of the export file grow as the export is in progress...exporting just my SMS messages (and I have years worth of messages), I see the file size climb to over 500MB. But when the export ends (and I do see the message "exporting successful" after a few minutes), the file size drops to 5.9MB. Surely something is not right...

what app and OS version are you using? Do you have many MMS messages there?

Sorry, version 5.17.2 Android 8.0.0 According to the SMS Import / Export app, I have 31274 SMS messages, and 815 MMS messages. Note however that this was an export where I had selected just SMS messages where I saw the odd file size regression.

that is a ridiculous amount of messages, the app isnt really optimized for that. Will keep the issue here though I guess.

The app should at least detect when it can't handle so many messages, and it doesn't sound like a ridiculous amount

I imagine most people who managed to transfer their messages from phone to phone will have that amount after a few years
