MMS containing multiple pictures: how to save them?

Open tb06 opened this issue 3 years ago • 3 comments

Hello:

When I receive an MMS with only 1 picture, a long press on it shows a floppy disk in the top bar, allowing me to save the picture in my phone. But when there are more than 1 picture in the same MMS, the floppy disk is not shown. And it don't see any other way to save them, even by clicking on each picture there is no "save" option. Is there a way to save directly these pictures or is it an issue? (The workaround I found is to open each picture by clicking on it and sharing it to myself in the Signal app. But that only could remain a workaround.)

Thanks in advance!

doesnt the image open on fullscreen view if you click on it? Depending on the gallery there should be a save button.

Yes it does. But with Simple Gallery I don't see any saving option 😕.

Clicking on it opens a share menu. File browsers like AOSP files or Material Files do not show up. But gallery apps do show up in the share options.

The default AOSP gallery does not display the image at all. Only a blank/black screen. Simple Gallery does display the image fullscreen. But no option to save. Only edit (which fails with permissions), share button (which doesn't give any options to save locally), and the ellipse menu > Open With (which does have a option for Material Files, but fails with filesystemexception error).

The only workaround for MMS's with more than 1 photo... is to click each photo, open with Simple Gallery, then use the Share Button to send back to Simple SMS Messenger, using my own number. Then I get an MMS message with only 1 photo attachment for me to save using the save button. Repeat for each photo attached in the original MMS.
