Add option to display messages' timestamps

Open Almtesh opened this issue 3 years ago • 4 comments

Hello,

Is that possible to add a option to display timestamps for the messages in conversation? There's currently some fuzzy timestamps and I don't have any idea of the time when the message where created.

My current workaround is to go in my mailbox (my messages are backed up by SMSBackup+) and see the timestamps from there, but it would be nice to have them directly in the app.

Regards.

Currently time is displayed above group of messages which appeared less than 5min apart. Which makes it inaccurate or impossible to tell which was sent when. Maybe we could add a timestamp which will appear after clicking on a message. At least that was what I tried to do to see if feature like this exists.

If this is implemented, please ensure that the timestamp adheres to the date-format that is configured within the application, because I want my dates and times to be absolute rather than relative or merely imprecise.

My current workaround is to export my messages to JSON and convert the unixtime to UTC manually.

It looks like @kazimierzfilip's #390 was closed without being merged after @tibbi left a review.

Actually, I though about displaying timestamps in the thread directly, like some can be displayed.

@Almtesh would https://github.com/SimpleMobileTools/Simple-SMS-Messenger/issues/19 be enough for you? If so, could you upvote #19 and close this issue here? Thanks!

My request is about timestamps in the thread. #19 is something I'd like to see in the app, so I upvoted it, but that's not the feature I request.

I see. I also want to see either

  1. a timestamp for each message (with second precision! - i.e. remove grouping altogether or only group messages by a much larger interval like one day as is usual in modern communication UIs like Slack/Discord/...)

or

  1. no timestamps at all

duplicate of #19
