Problem importing/restoring backup

Thanks for all of your work on many great apps!

I am trying to import/restore a backup.

Steps taken: Clicked import messages, selected 167MB file, selected Import SMS and Import MMS, clicked OK

It flashes "Importing..." at the bottom of screen, app closes out and nothing happens. After opening app again, no messages are there.

Any thoughts on what I may be doing wrong?

Can confirm this occurs with a smaller 150 MB file also. Lost all of my MMS messages; I failed to test restore functionality before wiping my phone. Hopefully this is something that can be fixed at some point in the future.

Can cofirm, Android 12 trying to import a 867mb file crashes. This is a real pain, as I'm switching to a new phone.

Same issue here. Trying to transfer from android 7 to 12 and with other SMS/MMS backup/restore tools the conversations are displaying out of order in various SMS apps (maybe sorting by import date/time instead of original time/date sent), so I was going to try to see if Simple SMS could export and import with the correct sort, but it's not importing at all. I tried a 400mb file from android 7, and I also tried to restore a backup I made in android 12 (500mb). Thanks for all your work!

I had to use simple sms to export<>import messages from old to new phone with custom rom. Similar approach as with contacts using simple contacts. During import I ended up with error com.google.gson.json syntax exception Not 100% sure this was exact error content as It popups for like 1-2seconds.

I suppose it's due to lack of proper google system app for parsing json, so just let me know if there's anything I can do to get a chance to import messages on a custom rom without GMS. Would be great to get also xml support beside json. As long as it doesn't make too much hassle.

Any updates on this? I recently upgraded to Android 12 and I'm unable to import the messages I backed up.

I've verified the JSON is valid using python -mjson.tool as well, so I'm not certain it's the same issue as above.

My file is only 37M as well. Not nearly as big as the others.

Any news on this ? I've change my phone, and i can't re-import my SMS/MMS. My file is around 250mb large. If someone has a solution, because i don't want to loose all my messages. Thanks for your help
