Don't receive some messages

(I don't speak english well, sorry) I receive some messages but not all of them. I don't know where to search for seeing if it comes from the app, but with many other apps, I receive all the messages.

Examples of messages I don't received this weekend : a confirmation message from my bank for a payment, and 2 messages from my relatives.

I can perhaps help with informations in answering your questions.

what app and OS version are you using?

SMS messenger 5.9.2 on Android 7.0. I don't find any update on F-droid.

Edit: I found newer versions on the web. I uninstalled the 5.9.2 and installed the update. I'll tell you if this solves the problem.

Hi, Today I don't received some SMSs from Telegram (sent after trigger on the app Telegram on my phone), but I received others from Telegram too (sent after trigger on Telegram on my laptop). The version of SMS messenger I installed : 5.12.0 Could the problem come from my phone (per example the software of the constructor Motorola or of the layer Lenovo), instead of the app ?

other people have reported the issue too, it wont be your case only. But I havent been able to reproduce or fix it yet.

I'm experiencing the same issue. Some SMS just don't arrive. v5.16.5 (has all permissions, set as default SMS app) on Redmi 10A with MIUI Global 13.0.11 (Android 11 under the hood) It happened to me before with a different phone as well

I'm using a xiaomi mi 10t lite with miui global version 13.0.8 (android 12) and saw that with the newest simple sms messenger version 5.17.0 I have been able to receive all messages while on the older version I wasn't able to receive messages containing emojis and otp messages for services like discord.

Ditto. I noticed that:

  • Text messages receive when the screen is off
  • Text messages receive when the app is open
  • Text messages do not receive when the screen is on but app isn't open.

This leads me to believe that there might be an issue with the toast not popping up and causing the message to mulch.

FYI in my case there was a specific issue with MIUI (Android with Xiaomi flawor) that by default forces all non-preinstalled apps to go to sleep after some period of inactivity. So one might want to check their battery saver/power policy options for the SMS app

Irregardless of the power options the only way for an app to not be killed all the time on most chinese phones is with a persistent notification, as per #771

@tibbi You should make your tests on e.g. a MIUI phone with 3gb of ram, and high memory usage
