Add support for burst images (also potrait mode images) taken in Google camera port

In google camera port that I use, images taken in potrait mode are stored in a seperate subfolder inside the Camera folder with 2 images (1 with blur and 1 without blur). If we can have an option to show all contents of subfolders as content of that folder itself, it would be great.

If we can have an option to show all contents of subfolders as content of that folder itself, it would be great.

There is the global option: [...] > Change view type > [x] Group direct subfolders

It does not show the pictures as content of the parent folder but clears things up a little.

Feature request: "Group direct subfolders" as a per folder setting so that, for example, subfolders of the "Pictures" folder (e.g., Google Burst folders) can be grouped with their parent whereas subfolders of other folders are not.

It could be a setting of the parent folder ([x] Group direct subfolders) or of the children ([x] Group with parent folder).

Another option could then be show grouped folders as separate folders (as it is currently the case) or to show their content within the parent folder.

Image series could be shown as a single thumbnail with a special tag in the folder view. Clicking the thumbnail could then open the image series folder or the image series could then be presented in some other way.

I do agree with the explanation given by @gith-account and I think the requested solution could partially solve issue #952 . I think this could be an important feature since the gallery app now works very poorly with burst images.

To my idea, #952 is an extension to this issue where there is a more sophisticated interface regarding burst images is requested, instead of just grouping burst images in a subfolder.

Though this issues has not seen any activity lately, I would like to draw the attention back to this issue since I think it addresses a pretty fundamental feature: presenting images in a convenient way to the user.

Just to add clarity to this ticket/request. Simple Gallery handles viewing Portrait shots great now (tick the filter box and they show with a dedicated icon on the cover image). Excellent.

The handling of Burst shots needs to be the same, with their own icon.

They are also stored under the /DCIM/Camera directory in subfolders too. Each image has "BURST" in the filename, with the cover image also having a "_COVER" suffix.

e.g. /DCIM/Camera/IMG_20210909_113959/00000IMG_00000**_BURST20210909113959_COVER**.jpg

Edit: Would you believe it? I've just double-checked and Burst shots are dealt with the same as Portrait, so they do show in the gallery. They just have the same "Portrait" icon instead of a "Burst" icon.

Keep up the smashing work, Tibbi. This is always the first app I download on a new phone! It's very much appreciated.

portrait image handling changed in Android 11, we are not handling the new way at all yet
