I had a similar issue but neither copying nor moving did work. I could reproduce the same behavior as @ghtesting2020.

Version of simple gallery pro (install via fdroid): 6.26.7 Android Version: Android 13.0 (Pixel Experience) Device: Xiaomi Mi A2

I was able to resolve the problem by enabling the notifications in the android system settings of the simple gallery app (long press app icon - > app info - > notifications)

I copy pictures to a folder on USB drive. Copying mostly stops at one point and the progress bar stays static. if i repeat the copy process, it opens a new bar and continues from there if i skip the same files.

what is the source and destination folder?

There are multiple problems with copying photos.

Source: internal phone memory, Destination folder: USB drive (type C, inserted into phone)

Problem 1: copying to external devices:

  • when you want to create a new folder on external USB, drive, you enter the title, press "OK", then the Android asks you to confirm the folder creation, using a default file manager. Creating that folder this way does not create a folder, but an error is displayed.

Problem 2:

  • Select images,
  • Top right menu —> Copy to
  • "Select destination menu" —> Other folder
  • "Select a folder menu" —> select a folder on USB and press OK
  • an error is displayed

What works:

  • If i create a folder on the USB drive with a built in Android file manager, and copy one (1) picture into that new folder, i can go to Simple Gallery, refresh the photos, and the folder with 1 photo will be detected. Then it's very simple to copy photos into that folder. That's how i currently copy photos to USB.

Problem 3:

  • when you're in the "Select folder menu", selecting external drive folder,if you go back one folder, it takes 10s or more to update the screen/options.
