A failed attempt to open Root folder decreases the speed

In the latest versions, Simple File Manager in my phone seem to take longer time than usual due to a fail attempt to open the Root folder. Note: My phone is not rooted. What can be done to fix this?

try disabling the Recents tab in the app settings
