Duplicate contacts in dialer's contact list

Three of each contact appear in dialer's contacts list and two of each contact appear in dialer's favorites list. This issue is not based on the number of phone numbers each contact has. All contacts have the same number of duplicates. App version: 5.11.5 (latest) from F-Droid Operating system: Android 12

I am also seeing this issue, though my experience regarding the number of clones differs. Some contacts show doubly, some singly in the contacts list. Since I had the contacts tab hidden for a long time, I can't tell whether this bug as existed previously, but I noticed it after:

• Exporting all contacts from Simple Contacts on Android 8
• Importing the VCF file into Simple Contacts on Android 12

There seems to be no apparent pattern as to which contacts show doubly and which don't. However, there a strange symptom shows "Phone Storage" twice at the bottom (see screenshot_20220523-175317). Also, I had to find out that deleting one of the duplicates through the Dialer app ends up deleting the contact entirely, with both entries gone.

Unfortunally (for both reasons), I no longer have the VCF file.

Probably this duplication goes from several account lists. For example Simple Contacts have all those duplicates bc of separate WhatsApp/Signal/Telegram/whatever lists it shows, especially if one contact has several phone numbers. But there's a setting where you can choose only necessary phonebook (Google or Nextcloud) - it solved the duplication problem completely for me. Simple Dialer doesn't have such a setting in its interface. Am I wrong? Is it not about that?

I cannot reproduce this issue with v5.18.1 but with Contacts app in the favourite tab.
