The personal ringtone for a contact no longer works

Hello and happy new year. The personal ringtone for a contact no longer works. Specifically, I the assignment in the contact settings works, but it still always rings the default tone. Unfortunately I can't tell if it's only since the update or if it was like that before. Fact is about 5 weeks ago it still worked. Maybe it's not even the app but I have unconsciously adjusted something in Android. Therefore my question, is it only with me so that the personal ringtone does not work or have others also the problem. I use the version 6.16.3 Pro and Android 11

What is its contact source? If it's "Phone storage (not visible by other apps)", then the personal ringtone won't work.

No the source is not the phone memory. The contacts are in Nextcloud (via DAVx). This also works very well for a long time. Maybe it is important, I also use Simple-Dialer V 5.11.2

I have found a solution. When I want to change the ringtone, I am shown various programs to "open" the ringtone. I had always used the ringtone manager. This did not work. If I use the file manager it works. Probably the problem is only with Xiaomi phone .

You mean that if you change the ringtone and check contact details, it shows the new selected ringtone correctly, it just doesnt work? Try checking it with some other Contacts app after editing, to see which ringtone does it show. Update to the latest version 6.17.0 first though.

Hello, I am now using version 6.17.0 Android 11.

1. my above described solution with the file manager does not work anymore.

I have now tried to change the ringtone with the app google contact. The new ringtone is displayed correctly in Simple-Contacts but it does not work. I tried again to change the ringtone with Simple-Contacts, it does not work. For info, the assignment of the ringtones that I changed earlier work. What am I doing wrong?

I have now tested it again. If I change the ringtone with google contact it works. If I change the ringtone with Simple-Contacts it does not. The new tone is displayed correctly in Simple, but it rings the standard tone

@tibbi Hi, I'm using Simple-Contacts-Pro & Simple-Dialer together, It seems apps share "Phone storage (not visible by other apps)" with each other, right?! So, does It possible to set ringtone per contact on rooted device while using the "Phone storage (not visible by other apps)"? It doesn't work for me now, and the standard phone's ringtone is playing.
