Security exception when alarm should ring
On Android 12, I get a security exception at the time the alarm for a real should ring effectively making the reminder useless. The app has no permissions denied and I don't know what I could do on the user's side to fix this problem.
Please fix this as soon as possible. I don't want to have to look for yet another calendar app again.
havent you picked some custom file as the ring audio?
It briefly worked when I set the audio stream to Ring (was Alarm) but now I get nothing anymore, no sound, no notification, no security exception. Very strange. I will have to use Etar until this is fixed )o:
Edit: The alarms & reminders were turned off, when I turn them on I get the security exceptions again despite choosing Ring as the audio stream, also Alarm and Notification audio stream does give the same exception.
Edit 2: Yes, I have custom files for my ring tone, alarms and notification.
try picking another file if you dont get some permission prompt
Same issue (different UID, but since the rest matches I guess that's device-specific). I'm using 6.23.0 Pro (F-Droid).
I have tried changing both the notification and ringtone sounds to different files, tried changing them to system ones (I thought this might be a separate permission or even not need one), tried changing the audio stream - nothing worked.
It's really a downer since this is the first calendar app I was able to use (all others are so abysmal that I just forgo using calendar) - the lack of notifications makes it that much harder to keep up without actively looking at the calendar.
Is there any more info I could provide/anything else I could check on my device to help debug it? I am OK with e.g. installing a debug build with verbose logs.
Hey, @tibbi, I understand it's a FOSS software and I would like to help you help us with this issue :). It's been over a week since I bumped it as still current and relevant - is there anything more I could do to help you with this one?
well, it happens way too rarely to have a high priority. Such issues are usually handled by some system changes, rooting or disabling system services, not some issue on our side.
I understand it’s not a priority, but it seems it’s happening 100% times for affected users.
I don’t have a rooted device and I don’t remember turning off system services, but that’s not impossible.
Please, let me know once you have some spare time to take a look or need more data.
