Unable to set event as private

Is this feature already there and did I miss it somehow ? I don't see it neither while editing any event nor when scanning the main app's configuration... (Btw, great job on this happ, most thankfull !)

what do you mean by private? If you dont want Google Calendars or other CalDAV service to synchronize it anywhere, just save it at the device-only event type ("Regular event" by default)

I'm talking of what seems to be the "private" class ; I think I just found the syntax of events on this link (look for this text in page : "CLASS:PRIVATE").

As for the usage : I'm using a shared (pro) calendar. When using Google Calendar app, I could specify an event to be "private" (usually through a tickbox) ; when this is the case, my account would display the whole event, and the shared calendar would only display "private event" (though anybody could see that I'm already booked on the schedule).

(I find it a bit strange that nobody raised this issue before : this is something most people I know are using daily... So maybe it is already implemented on the app, though my searchs on the branch didn't reveal anything...)

I dont remember anyone else reporting it. If an event is private, maybe they just dont add it to shared calendars I guess..

Hi @tibbi,

I fully respect your decision not to accept #1098 into your project, after all it is your project 🙂

However I agree with @tgrandje and @jatoko that this is an important feature and there are many reasons why people have private appointments in a shared calendar. For me, it's because of how I sync my work calendar with my phone and how I use my work calendar to remind me of personal appointments and block time on my work laptop via my work calendar without showing my colleagues the reasons, when those reasons are private. Without this ability in Simple Calendar I need to use another app.

Cheers 🙂

I am raising my hand for this - I for myself use the "Confidential" class most often to show others I am not available for booking while at the same time not showing the content (the "why?").

Did you manage to do some research about this @tibbi as you mentioned in https://github.com/SimpleMobileTools/Simple-Calendar/pull/1098#issuecomment-601379214 ?

I was asked for the same feature when I've recommended the app to some friends. There are quite a few that regard this as a deal breaker and therefore don't use the app, which is a bummer as it's otherwise really excellent in my regard. I also don't think there's much of a drawback in adding it - I don't think it's confusing or cluttering, but of course that's not for me to decide. Keep up the good work.
