Is this library still maintained?

Open fdietze opened this issue 6 years ago • 15 comments

I see a lot of open issues, open pull-requests and almost no development going on in this repository. Are there any future plans for this library?

I personally like the elegant architecture. It's what makes draggable stand out between other drag&drop libraries in my opinion. But it has its rough edges and there is lots of improvement potential.

It would be sad, if this popular and great library would be discontinued.

I haven't seen @tsov on the repo in months, so... yea we may have lost our maintainer. I'd love it if someone stepped up to take over.

Is he no longer at Shopify? Or no longer interested in this project?

Still at Shopify and absolutely crushing it. If I had to guess, life is too busy to also maintain this project. It was always something we worked on after hours.

:+1: I can help out with PR reviews and such. Though I guess we need someone to take over the publishing stuff?

josh18 avatar Jan 05 '19 02:01 josh18

@beefchimi not sure if you have the power to give me access but I'm happy to go through and add labels to issues and close some of the old Typescript ones.

Hey @josh18 I actually had the chance to talk to @tsov and we are going to try and move the repo off the Shopify org so that we can add a external collaborator to maintain the project.

Hopefully I can get the ball rolling on this soon - will keep you posted!

Thanks for your patience and interest in the repo 😄

Any update on this?

Trying to get the wheels rolling on this... currently looking at creating a Draggable org.

If I do that, anyone want to volunteer to take over?

Any news about Draggable development and new stable versions?

smartm0use avatar May 03 '19 12:05 smartm0use

@smartm0use I've granted a few people collaborator status. Essentially, anyone who wants to get involved and has a competent track record, I will have them sign a CLA and give the Collaborator status. From there, Collaborators are free to lend help wherever they can - maintain the library, answer questions, put up PRs, do reviews, etc.

I personally plan on starting to contribute within a few months. Hopefully I can help in moving this project along.

Seems like I'm the only maintainer left right now... :( Unfortunately my time is too limited to invest time in this project.

My suggestion would be to give all the people who opened unmerged PRs permission to merge their own PRs. Even better, write to all people who forked and worked on this repo. Maybe this gets the ball rolling again...

fdietze avatar Feb 03 '20 02:02 fdietze

@beefchimi could you please grant some more people collaborator status to merge their own pull requests? All of them already contributed by opening PRs. It would be a shame to dismiss this great work.

Stricter community merge-rules (like 2 approvals needed by other contributors) can be implemented, when the ball is rolling again...

I listed some here to make it easier for you:

  • @davidbielik
  • @zjffun

It is my honor to participate in this awesome project. I'll try my best to improve it, but I‘m also little busy only have limited free time. Something is better than nothing :)
