Allow using newly open sourced SteamOS manager instead of PowerStation?
Looks like Valve just open sourced their special daemon which handles TDP, max battery level and a lot more over D-Bus: https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2025/05/steamos-manager-for-bios-updates-tdp-and-gpu-clock-controls-now-open-source/
As soon as I read the news it reminded me of PowerStation a lot and I wonder if this stuff might be useful to you even just as a reference. To be clear, not necessarily by being a full on replacement for PowerStation but even just perhaps as an additional, optional daemon since SteamOS will have it preinstalled and it's going to run on a lot of AMD handhelds.
Steamos-manager isn't news to us. I've been working with them on this, writing the drivers for Lenovo and helping with integration. We have plans to either talk with steamos-manager if it's installed, or proxy the interface it provides. Currently steamos-manager cannot adjust TDP using RyzenAdj, which is a requirement for many devices.
That's awesome!

That's kinda a bummer. I hope that a future addition will be in-scope.
Should I close this issue or wait until the SteamOS-manager integration will be implemented?
You can leave it open until we've added one solution or the other.
