Will not respond to requests
Phones won't respond to request for location. I can manually send positions (GPS and Wi-Fi) to another phone, and can send requests for position. However, I am not getting any responses to these requests. App on requesting phone says "Request sent, wait for response", and I never get a response. Receiving phone gets the SMS, but doesn't seem to do anything with it.
I have set up Trusted Numbers, Number for Requests, verified WiFi-request and GPS-request messages, Enabled Respond to Requests, Disabled Mutes (saw that as a potential issue in another thread), etc. Allowed all requested permissions (and some additional ones as well).
I am running Skydragon ROM, Android Version 9 on 1+ 6t. My phone is rooted with minimal install of gapps. My wifes phone is not rooted, and is not running any gapps.
This app appears to be exactly what I was looking for...if it would work on my phones. Any thoughts?
Update. I also installed this on my daughters ATT Branded bone stock Samsung S8, with the same results. It also does not respond the the text requests for location. I am in USA and have tried both 10 digit phone numbers with no dashes and xxx-xxx-xxxx. I am hoping this is something simple to remedy because I really want to like this app. Thanks.
try adding directional in front. it works for me only with the right one for my country. there is also alternative application on f-droid repo: „device locator”, which is simpler and doesn't require directional, but sends less data on request. both apps work in background as a service in order to work.
Hi! May be some energy saving options enabled in your samsung? Xiaomi (my) with default settings for app had same problem. Phone number without spaces, works with country code.. (+7 etc, in Russia) Does it respond when app is open on the screen? (and all settings are enabled) App doesn't run a service in background until tracking feature started. It use "broadcast receiver" for sms and service starts only when incoming sms is match
@SidFishous May be you add number to left list, instead of right ("trusted")?
FWIW, I also had this problem but after changing a setting in Messages (Google stock app) it started to work: Message organization -> View messages by category -> OFF
