sorry for my late reply but I currently have no concrete plans to keep developing the tool (may change in the futurre) so I barely looked into the open issues.

After adding a channel into the job list they should be scanned automatically all the time the tool is running.

If I remember correctly it´ll only start downloading the open files from a channel after the channel has been scanned completly up to the latest known timestamp (so in initial configuration, after all messages of a channel have benn scanned). It may take a while until this process has finished for newly added channels. There also once was a bug new added channels required a restart of the tool. I am not all sure but I think this had been fixed.
