Why? This was an intentional breaking change followed by a major version bump. I don't see any reason to bring this back.
Unless you are up to making the change required for this to work on 32 bit system, I doubt it will change.

Looks like closing candidate, issue is about python 2.7 and `tomlkit` no longer supports it.
