I should note I also have some of these drives behind a mp2sas HBA as well which throws the same errors refusing to update the firmware.

Based on the final sense code being reported from the download attempt, the drive is indicating that the firmware is not compatible with the hardware within the drive.

No, you are getting the firmware from the website correctly. The drive is rejecting the firmware because it is detecting an incompatibility with some of the hardware used when building it. I don't have enough information on this drive to determine if the reason is it needs 0007 first or if this firmware was released only for certain drives with certain hardware internally. Sometimes Seagate will release firmware that patches drives and it only applies to a specific piece of hardware within the drive and drives without that hardware will not accept the firmware as they are not affected by the patch. The website is not able to determine from the SN this low-level detail which is why it offers up this firmware in this case.

I have been reaching out to some other people to help and see if we can find 0007, but there does not seem to be one on the website archive. Unfortunately, I will not be able to find that firmware for you to test.
