Error : 5.7.1 Authentication Required - Working Earlier

Open gtc-tech-team opened this issue 9 months ago • 10 comments

Hello, I am trying out Purelymail and successfully configured everything and was able to send emails via SMTP. Suddenly today (2-3 days later) when I checked, I am getting an error message saying 5.7.1 Authentication required.

Can somebody please help and guide....

You'll have to be more specific about what app you're using for me to guess. Screenshots preferred. An error message of "Authentication required" often means your app didn't even attempt to authenticate over SMTP.

Screenshot attached. Well the code was working fine perfectly for a day at least, you can also check the billing stats - it says 15 emails sent. We are using a custom domain that has been configured to send 2 emails when someone registers on our portal. Please let me know if you need any specific information to sort this out.

Thanks.

What software is this? Does it happen to have IMAP logs? Can you authenticate with other users or via IMAP for that user in other apps? As far as I know nothing in particular changed about Purelymail in this timeframe.

All of a sudden I have the same issue.

Using Vivaldi mail the error is: Timeout connecting to server Trying to create email account in Thunderbird: Unable to login at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password.

Webmail (inbox.purelymail.com) has no issues, although a bit slow.

Mail Account settings in both Vivaldi and Thunderbird are correct (Vivaldi had no issues until a couple of days ago).

Have you tried complete manual configuration using the name and port that is provided on the website? Similarly, have you checked that this password is valid (if your using an app password)

Found the root cause of my problem. A VPN service was active. As soon as VPN was disconnected email got reconnected.

Assuming that this is likely a bug. Also assuming that its likely too out of date to be able to look at, but wanted to get your opinion on @ktr

Uncertain if you are asking my assistance or your message above is addressed to someone else.
