Apple Account won't use purely mail?
I tried to create an Apple Account with a purelymail custom domain email for the email. It acted like it couldn't verify the email and wouldn't let me create the account. Is that a problem with the way I set it up or with the way purelymail is set up?
I've never used Apple Accounts. Can you provide screenshots of what you're trying to set up and what's going wrong?
I can't sorry. I ended up creating the account using a gmail address. It gave the error "Your account cannot be created at this time." Not every time I tried but sometimes it also said that the email could not be verified but I tried a proton address and that did it too. I was just wondering if there may be an extra DNS thing or something that needs set up.
I didn't contact Apple support which may have helped. I was creating it for someone else and was going to link it to my purelymail email until we figured something else out. It wouldn't take that so I created the gmail account. I tried that and it didn't go either so I contacted support and they fixed something on their end. I asked and they said they processed an "email concern" on their end. I'm guessing the account wasn't old enough or something? Don't know if that helps. The purelymail address is multiple months old so it shouldn't have been that.
@AgileBuckle Just had a look at this, and agreed can't do it with mine either. Id imagine it must be a block on any domains that arent large commercial public email. SImilar to what Steam does (I had my domain ending in .XYZ and they blocked my account from using that email). Maybe if you have your own domain?
I'm not sure what you mean by have your own domain. I have a domain through Porkbun and have that linked to purelymail and that is how I tried it.
Ah sorry the way your message was worded it sounded like you were using the purelymail domain. Have you tried adding your email from your domain in your apple account as a secondary email address (can be done on iOS and Mac OS) thats how I got mine and I am not sure if that is cheating their system, but again it might be that they don't allow custom emails as to avoid accounts from spammers and the like. Sorry I can't be of more help!
