I kind of expected people to just stay logged in all the time, webmail-wise. What's the use case for logging out on a device but disabling 2FA?

I mean my browser clears cookies and other data on close, and I see no reason to not do so. I personally don't like being logged in a browser all the time, since there's a much bigger attack surface on a browser, then, for example a email client.

I don't think there's a way for a page to identify a device without saving either a cookie or a value to Local Storage. If both get cleared on close, it would see a new device, next time. That's my understanding, anyway.
