Stay on Catalina or move on to Big Sur?
Hello Chris.
#1 thank you so much for hard work🙏🏽
- Do you recommend Big Sur? With the same specs you are using... the only difference between yours and mine is the GPU, I am using the Radeon WX PRO 9100.
I'm on big sur, can recommend upgrading. No side effects founded for me, the system is stable enough.
@g3d so you just did a in-system upgrade? Did you have to reflash the EFI afterwards?
@kellertobias i’m doing in-system upgrade each time big sir received beta, no need to reflash.
BTW, I always have a flash drive with installed open core and my config on it, so I can boot and recover EFI in case of emergencies. I strongly recommend you to have backup at least for your EFI (I do time machine backups as well, occasionally).
The only time when I re-flash my EFI is when @SchmockLord publish new release.
I just installed Big Sur from Catalina and it all worked fine. My only issue now is my computer wakes up from sleep a lot. I haven't had a chance to checkout what is causing it. I might turn off power to my USB ports in BIOS when not ON later and see if that helps.
Hey there @sebastienb were you able to troubleshoot anymore what you sleep issue was? Are you running the gigabyte vision d or something else?
Looking to update to update to big sur myself, thanks for the feedback

I'm on the vision D, I recently turned off wake for LAN, I will report back if that helped.
