Thunderbolt/USB 4
Hello, I'm a new hackintosher and trying to set up this built everything is working well but Thunderbolt. From the posted images I could understand the thunderbolt line is seen by my system only as USB 4. In the system information it is detected but with the driver not installed. In IoReg it is not even detected, could someone help me?
See attached pisctures
Hi there! Do you have something connected to it? Thunderbolt will function only if the device is connected before booting to macOS i.e preboot mode. If you disconnect it, the device no longer function and you need to restart the system again. This because the system is not capable of Hotplug with standard maple ridge thunderbolt controller.
Hi, thanks for your reply. I made several tests with thunderbolt devices and disks connected via USB C. Only the USB C are detected and, in any case, thunderbolt line never appears in the ioreg
Don't mention it.
Do you confirm that you're on Z590i Vison D motherboard? If yes, what's your BIOS version? Gigabyte BIOS are pretty strange with thunderbolt bridge. Hotplug don't even works in Win10, just to make you understand how weird it is.
Check if, in your config.plist you have set to enable > true, under ACPI:
- Thunderbolt 4 support on path SSDT-JHL8540-GIGABYTE-Z590i-VISION-D.aml
- Thunderbolt 4 support on path SSDT-DTPG.aml
BTW i suggest you to follow this discussion on tonymac. We're all working on Thunderbolt 4 compatibilty.
Hi, thanks again. I'll do some more tests. Attached the images of the Hackintool's PCI list and the image of the ioreg Thunderbolt
path
After some other test my Thunderbolt device (Terramaster Storage Server D2) appeared on desktop but it is working like a SATA disk (pictures attached). Any suggestion?
And what’s the issue? That the speed is slower?
In general Thunderbolt works, but only when you plug-in devices before powering on your machine and booting into macOS. Hotplug doesn’t work.

Yes it is very slow, like a SATA device
the strangest thing is that the apple driver AppleThunderboltHAL never appears in IOREG
@SchmockLord hi, does the patreon support chat also takes place via GitHub comments? I've created a subscription there so not sure how to proceed. Thanks for all the great work you do here, best Pascal
