Universal flatpak package instead of .deb
Currently there is only deb package installer which is hard to install on non-debian based distributions. Flatpak works nicely on most systems. Plus they have security enhancemensts and better dependency management. I think it would be helpful switching to flatpaks for distributing the app.
While I love the idea of a flatpak the comment about only being able to install on Debian base systems is not accurate. I've been running Arch based distros for years and more than a few times I've installed the DTV desktop app. Personally I would add a flatpak or a appimage to the current installers, not just replace the current installer. I for one use flatpaks so I don't have to build certain programs and the same with appimages, but there are plenty out there that actually hate snap, flatpak, and appimage. You would be limiting the number of people who would install the DTV desktop app. On a side note I'd love if the creator would hand over this entire project to someone that actually wants to fully maintain it and update various features, not just do releases to fix issues.
I'm using fedora as my dailydriver. I couldn't find a convenient way to install this app. I tried to install deb packages once or twice and failed miserably. I would be soo good if the developer would be willing to deal with all this linux package managers ,rpms, debs, tars, flatpaks, snaps etc but this much of diversity hurts the development. Everyone wants something in linux world. Not everyone gets what they want even in the democracy. If there would be one i would get from all of these i would choose flatpaks no doubt. Theyere easy for end user,have better security....

I'm on Arch and I use the linux-x64.tar.gz file to do the install. Quick and painless. Just download that one, Extract the contents into a folder, then go into that folder and do a sudo ./setup.sh . No .deb package needed and the script checks dependencies needed and creates the directories and all.

I have Arch, XeroLinux, Manjaro, and Garuda installed that that version isn't playing nice. Simply put it won't launch in any of them. I don't see any issues with any other apps I have install so Not sure what is causing DTV stand alone not to launch. Here's my thread on Reddit if you have any thoughts. Thanks
