Assigning vertex color, makes it black

Blender v4.3 TexTools master version (1.6.2)

Assigning vertex color not working properly. Instead of assigning picked color it is assigning black.

Can you please check in the addon preferences the version of TexTools you have? Please answer with the version number.

I'm also using 1.6.2 and assigning a vertex color will assign it whatever the color currently is set to in vertex paint mode
