Action item due date field does not accept valid date input

The text under the "Due date" field on the "New Action Item" screen says "MM/DD/YYYY or YYYY-MM-DD". However, if you attempt to type in a date of the form "YYYY-MM-DD", it is automatically removed as soon as the field loses focus.
