Would stable diffusion improve in-painting over latent diffusion?

Also where do I put the Stable Diffusion Checkpoint file> I had it downloaded manually for another implementation.

location possibility: TORCH_HOME=~/.cache/torch/hub/checkpoints/ and the file should be named sd1.4.ckpt perhaps

I was able to load the model seemingly once (?) but didn't seem to run - now not loading(?)
