I'm having the same issue -- using an ec2 machine and accessing it from my computer. It's a CORS error.

Access to fetch at 'http://localhost:5000/upload_doc' from origin 'http://ip-nnn-nnn-nnn-nnn.ec2.internal:3000' has been blocked by CORS policy: No 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' header is present on the requested resource. If an opaque response serves your needs, set the request's mode to 'no-cors' to fetch the resource with CORS disabled.
