Redactor breaks my html formatting

Is there anyway to disable redactor automatically inserting p tags and removing other tags when using the html edit mode

example if i write this

<div class="span12>Exampletext</div>

next time i try to edit the text, the formatting is this

<p>Exampletext</p>
