Possibly detected as a cheat in Valorant

I was recently banned from Valorant for "Using unauthorized third-party software" even though I'm not cheating.

I had recently reset and fresh-installed windows on my PC, so it did not have a lot of software installed which lead me to believe it was detecting MicMute as a cheat (possibly because of the overlay), however, I'm not 100% sure.

I contacted Riot's support and they weren't all that helpful, they just confirmed that it was a permanent ban on my account and a temporary ban on my PC (hwid) for 120 days, they did not however, reveal anything about the actual cause of the ban.

I contacted them again, this time I explained the situation with MicMute and what it does and told them what I had suspected and they still were not helpful and did not care at all.

I can't do anything about this except adding this issue as a warning for other people.

I don't have any help for you except to feel sympathy. It's practically impossible to get through the smokescreens of companies like this. Typically the people you have to deal with know a lot less about the technical specifics than you do. A long time ago, I had a long-standing email account (from one of the big online companies) dropped "due to sending spam". I was 100% sure that was untrue and probably a dumb false positive on their end, but I had a similar outcome as you got. "We looked at it again, you are still guilty, and we're not going to tell you any more about our methods."

Hello, I’ve encountered the same issue, and I do think it was caused by MicMute aswell, as I didn’t use any other 3rd party program. I’m currently still waiting on a reply from Riot, but I assume they won’t help unless it’s a known issue.. Please do message me if you end up getting your ban lifted. Thank you.

I think so, but honestly until other people confirm that they were also unbanned, I can't be 100% sure.

I will contact riot and ask them, but I doubt they would confirm anything

No need to worry, it is safe to use MicMute with Valorant (we contacted support about it), and I use it a lot while playing Valorant.
