Not working on Moto G5+

Open mauliksamit opened this issue 6 years ago • 6 comments

I downloaded the October 2018 release of the emulator, but when I try to run Pokémon X (which I checked was a 3ds file only), the emulator keeps stopping and shows a popup saying "Citra Emulator keeps stopping".

Moto G5+ has a Snapdragon processor and an Adreno GPU yet it doesn't work.

Kindly help.

This emulator is only working on high end phones with a sdm 835 or higher..Exynos and Kirin has some problems I heard.

Motorola are douchebags and refuse to use 64-bit software on most of their phones (the ones that don't need it for more RAM). So that's most possibly your problem.

However, there is way to enable 64-bit apps on a G5+ with a custom ROM.

That looks like kernel files (for developers, not users), if I'm not mistaken. Unlock your bootloader, install a custom recovery, and go to your device's XDA section to find a 64-bit ROM. If this stuff is all going over your head, you're probably better off not trying to play Pokémon for now.

The link I posted earlier has some built-together ROMs down below the kernel source, but for more up-to-date versions, look here:

https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5-plus/development

Find a ROM with a 64-bit kernel base. From what I know, if it's Optimus-Drunk-Potter, then it's 64-bit. Most Pie ROMs have it - Pixel Experience, ArrowOS and GZOSP to name a few.

Always remember to know what you're doing. First, flash TWRP and ensure you can roll back if anything gets messed up. Then wipe dalvik/cache if you're taking your chances on a dirty flash (works most of the time), if you want to start with a clean slate, wipe everything. Then flash the ROM with TWRP.

Yeah, and this probably goes without saying, but I am NOT responsible if you accidentally wipe out download mode or brick your phone. Though it looks like the G5+ can be unbricked with QFIL. If you take the risk, be aware that you won't get near to playable speeds on Citra with your phone either way.
