A few bugs found on latest version (location, xp bar)

Open R0sers213 opened this issue 8 years ago • 5 comments

Device info

  • Phone type: (Microsoft Lumia 535)
  • App version: (Latest 1.0.29?)

Steps to reproduce

  1. Load PoGo app up. Hit the Windows key and boot the app back up (without holding 'Back' button and ending task.)
  2. Disable your location whilst in game (Main game screen AFTER logging in.

Actual behavior

  1. The UI shows you are level 0 with full xp bar. However if you view your profile. It shows the correct level.
  2. If location is disabled app will not load (How it should be), however, if you load the app up with location enabled and then disable it. It does nothing at all.

Expected behavior

  1. Maybe force the game to reload all UI and assets if you leave the game temporarily.
  2. Game should automatically return an error and close or log you out if you disable location whilst in the game.

Other information

Also maybe not a bug. But no Pokémon or Pokestops seem to show at all. Nothing in nearby list either. I dont know if this is known as a potential issue with this version or not.

Number one is a known issue and has already been posted. Also no Pokemon/Pokestops is already a known issue as well.

Cant speak for the devs, but number 2 sounds like a good idea as a safety net. We do not know how Niantic will respond if we dont send any location data.

My mistake that number 1 was already mentioned. I work all day and my downtime is 2am - 7am so my eyes and brain are on 2 different planets. Sorry for the repeated issue. :)

Ok so found another issue with the use of number 2.

  1. Disabling location in game does absolutely nothing. However. If you reenable location whilst in game and without rebooting the app. If you click the "Snap to Me" button (the button that automatically goes to your character). The whole screen will turn white. If you proceed to click the "Grid" icon (Icon above the "Snap to Me") The entire screen will turn blue.

If click the compass button. It returns to normal.

Not a serious issue this one. But I thought you would like to know :)

Edit: The white and blue screen may reproduce itself even when I reboot the app. (This only occurs if you produce the number 2 bug).

The fix: Go to Settings and change the map view mode to Niantic Map and then go back to original map.

Will also add that even getting a temporary loss in GPS signal can sometimes result in the white and blue radient screens.

Doesn't happen all the time. Just seems to happen if signal is lost for over 10 seconds (a timeout I believe). If under the 10 seconds. It appears to be fine.

  1. Should be fixed
  2. Is known issue and will be fixed in the future releases
