[Feature request] Audio to Haptics Conversion
Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. A clear and concise description of what the problem is. Ex. I'm always frustrated when [...]
I'm running an NLR HF8 seat. They have a virtual audio driver that converts audio to haptics with a differentiated 5.1 audio source. The problem is there is no frequency cut-off, so voice vibrates the chair just as much as explosions. Can you create an equivalent with more customization flexibility?
Describe the solution you'd like
A virtual audio to haptics option. Can choose audio source (e.g. if you have more than one sound card, you can pick the active source). Independent frequency choices so that certain sounds are more likely to trigger the haptics than others. Possibly game-specific profiles if able. Must be able to differently directions of audios and translate to the seat.
Describe alternatives you've considered A clear and concise description of any alternative solutions or features you've considered.

I think this is something I'm looking for as well. You want to take the game audio, run it through a low pass filter and send that output for the bass shakers, correct? This can be done using a virtual mixing software called Voicemeeter, I'm using it to play Elite Dangerous which doesn't expose any sort of game telemetry. But it's yet another piece of software to keep track of, and you have to switch around a bunch of audio sources.
It would be amazing if we had this functionality right in SimHub!
@matheger This is what I'm looking for. I'm running an NLR HF8, so I don't think it could be handled the way bass shakers can be output to. It might need more directional finesse to work properly (unless Voicemeeter has a dedicated option for the HF8). What are you running?
I only have a stereo USB soundcard that drives my bass shakers, so it's an easy enough setup. Voicemeeter isn't specifically built with bass shakers in mind, it's a more general purpose audio mixer tool. It just so happens that my problem boils down to something that falls in its scope, namely "I want to take my Windows audio stream and distribute it to two output devices at the same time (headphones + bass shaker soundcard), with a low pass filter on one of them." So the problem statement is not all that complicated, which is why I thought that yours would fall under it as well. Perhaps just a question of addressing more audio channels for you.
I'm about to add my first bass shaker to my rig. Before investing money, I downloaded simhub and started to look at the options and I've found the "engine sound" options quite poor. (tell me if I'm wrong). Only two rpm threshold and some predefined tones for both. Then I thought, as you ask, to just low pass filter the sound of the game and route it to the shaker. But it doesn't look possible yet :/
As an alternative, there are some mono class-D amplifier around dedicated for subwoofer with a built-in low pass filter. Here is an exemple : https://fosiaudio.com/products/fosi-audio-mono-amplifier-subwoofer-amp-100w-with-bass-power-amplifier-for-home-passive-speaker
