Admin Function to resend password (invitation) after link expires

Open mmclark opened this issue 10 years ago • 10 comments

If a new user is invited into the system, they are sent an email with a signup link, which will expire after 3 days. After this link expires, there's no obvious way to set the user up in the system.

The work around is to add yourself (as a superuser) to their Organization, then delete them from the Organization, then add them again, which causes an email to get sent to them to set their password, then delete yourself from the Organization.

Very stupid to have to do it that way, but at least you can do it.

Need functionality in the admin section to resend the password email to an existing user.

This is still a valid issue, even if it's a lower priority. It would be nice if it wasn't closed in 60 days from now.

@RDmitchell adding a comment (like you did) will remove the stale label.

Also, just for clarification, the stalebot works like this:

  • if an issue hasn't been updated in the past 60 days, add the stale label
  • if an issue hasn't been updated 7 days after the stale label was added, the issue is clused
  • if an issue is updated (comment, updated labels, etc) after the stale label is added, the stale label will be removed the next day (and the 60 day interval resets)

There is now an option to reset the password within the organization, but this functionality also needs to be added to the overall instance Administration, when you are logged in as a superuser (or whatever it is ) and you can see all the orgs, add users to specific orgs, etc.

I think it is fine that this issue is closed. It is still awkward, but not impossible to deal with this use case.
