Mapping: Save the mapping of a previously mapped file as a CSV file
Instance: dev1 SHA:
I have a situation where an existing organization imported data 2 years ago and now they have more data they want to import, but I need to make sure to map the new data in the same way as the old data.
The data was imported before we had Mapping Profiles, and it would be nice if I could export as a CSV file the mapping from the existing files, when looking at them in the mapping screen
I know this might be a bit of an edge case, but I think it might come in useful in other cases also.
If I download CSV files for the 2 or 3 different file types that were imported, I can compare the mapping of those fields to the fields in the new files so that they are mapped the same, even if the imported field names have changed.
As it stands now, the only thing I can do is make a series of screenshots which is laborious and then prone to error when I do the actual mapping
Actually, this already exists for Column Mapping profiles, in Organizations / Column Mapping.
So what is really requested in this issue is to be able to have a way to get the mapping of a data file that does not have a Column Mapping Profile associated with it.
The user can see the mapping of previously imported files
For data that was imported and a Column Mapping Profile was not created, could we add functionality to the Mapping screen, to either
- save the mapping as a CSV file
- create a column mapping profile for this particular mapping
This is probably a bit of an edge case, but still might be a useful feature for users who don't save their mappings from year to year.

@isalanglois / @kflemin -- I have this case again, where I have old data in an existing org, and I need to map a new file the same way as the old data, but I never made a column mapping profile for the original data, or the existing ones are wrong, and I would like to be able to get the mapping from the old data and use it for the new data.
So being able to create a new column mapping profile from an existing mapping of data would be extremely useful. As it is, I have to do a screenshot and by hand make sure all the field names are the same.
As explained above, the functionality could be to generate a CSV file of the mapping from the mapping screen, then import it into the Org/Column Mapping as a new profile.
But nicer for the user would be to do all that behind the scenes, from the Mapping screen, so they could just say, make a new column mapping profile from this mapping, and then allow the user to save it with a new name (or overwrite an existing name).
Thanks !!
