An example is map3d that provides a linear mapping between color and data (standard SCIRun colormaps) and a log function (see section 7.4.1 in map3d 6.5's manual).

there is a workaround doing different scaling function by using calculatefielddata to scale the data. I think it would still be nice to have this in RescaleColorMap. One of the interns could do this.
