Release notes need details

Open zachwolf opened this issue 6 years ago • 4 comments

Hello, thanks for your work on Inquirer!

Maybe I'm missing just missing it, but I can't find release notes for 6.5.0 and later. Are details of the changes published anywhere?

The readme links to the releases tab, but no information is provided in that context.

Thanks again!

@SBoudrias I can help you do this part. 😆

Hey, the release page has become quite noisy since I've made the switch to a mono repo for the refactor.

I'm open to suggestions for a good tool to help manage a changelog or the release page under a monorepo setup.

@LitoMore help welcome, let me add you as a contributor!

not just noisy - it's become extremely difficult to even find the release notes of your latest main release (currently 10.1.8) if at least you would never check the "set as latest release" checkbox unless the release is for the main application then that would help a lot already.

that being said, dependabot also cannot cope with it, showing only part of the latest releases at the moment. image

inquirer including all other prompts, the releases without specific notes bump the prompts. So going down the release page will let you know what changed. I don't think 10.1.3 - bump @inquirer/input to 1.2.3 would be much help in release note; and it's quite the chore to write.

I'm open to better tooling to help manage the release notes, but it's low in my priority list ATM. Been looking into adopting https://github.com/changesets/changesets
