Hello @swendlandt thanks a lot for your contribution. I discussed the selection on the right side topic with our design department and they decided to not follow this path further. This selection behavior is not even mentioned in the Fiori guidelines (see https://www.sap.com/design-system/fiori-design-web/ui-elements/list-overview/?external (see section “Mode”)). Therefore we will not introduce further enhancements to this right side selection and even think about to deprecate the extsing single selection mode (sap.m.ListMode#SingleSelect) in the UI5 Tree / List / ResponsiveTable in future.
