This repository contains the material for the SAP TechEd 2020 session called DEV163 - Build a Workflow from Scratch with SAP Workflow Management.

Overview

The SAP Workflow Management combines workflow, business rules, and process visibility services into a single unified offering that helps you increase business process automation and efficiency. The service includes the following capabilities.

• Workflow : Digitalize workflows, automate and orchestrate structured processes tailored to business needs.
• Business Rules: Automate and flexibly adapt decision logic in your processes, independently of application development.
• Process Visibility: Provide real-time, event-driven visibility into end-to-end processes.
• Process Flexibility: Enable business experts to manage processes, decisions and visibility dashboards using low/no-code approach.
• Live Process Content Packages: Flexibly extend standard processes with predefined live process content packages.

This session introduces to workflow, business rules and process visibility capabilities of Workflow Management.

There are 4 set of exercises. Exercise 0 is a mandatory setup before executing any exercises. You can choose to run one or more exercises 1, 2, and 3 in any order. These exercises are independent of each other and the instructions are mentioned in the respective links below.

• Exercise 0 - Setup

  • Duration: 15 min. This is a MANDATORY exercise.
  • It will help you setup your SAP Cloud Platform Trial account with SAP Workflow Management.

• Exercise 1 - Workflow

  • Duration: 90 minutes
  • In this exercise, you will learn how to:
    • model, build and deploy workflow from SAP Business Application Studio.
    • monitor and execute workflow using standard Monitor Workflow applications.
    • access My Inbox application to approve, reject or rework user task.

• Exercise 2.1 - Business Rules

  • Duration: 60 minutes
  • In this exercise, you will learn how to:
    • create, configure and deploy these business rules models using standard Manage Rules Application.
    • test and consume APIs published in SAP API Business Hub.

• Exercise 2.2 - Integrate Business Rules with Workflow

  • Duration: 30 minutes
  • Prerequisite: Exercise 2.1 has to be executed mandatorily.
  • In this exercise, you will learn how to:
    • integrate business rules with workflow.
    • test the integration by running the workflow from standard Monitor Workflow applications.

• Exercise 3 - Process Visibility

  • Duration: 60 minutes
  • In this exercise, you will learn how to:
    • create, configure and activate business scenario.
    • access process workspace to track processes and key business KPIs.
    • configure, view and monitor events and business scenarios.
