Guide to set up test environment and run the tests?

I have made a lot of enhancements to the adapter and have validated it against a large scale database implementation. I am trying to figure out a way to setup the test environment and run tests for the adapter. This would help me refactor the code before I send a pull request. Thanks, HSM
