Feature Request: Contour Lines
This was discussed in 2015 in the KSP forum thread, but died. A contour map would be far more navigating overland travel compared to the slope map. Using discrete colors somewhat alleviates the problem, but a limit of 11 colors hampers the detail in the picture.
Using the interpolation points the low resolution slope-map as well, would make it easier.
Currently it uses the edges of the pixels for the slope view, using the interpolation points for simple bidirectional diagonal interpolation would work better. (i.e. the pixel corners.)
For contour maps, using altitude threshold crossing points to create splines would work nicely.
Furthermore, increasing the number of colors for the pallet mode might help. I would recommend at least 64 if not 128 or 256 color pallet mode.
