Describe your request

I can specify the location of the image when embedding the text selected by the rectangular field as an image. Thanks.

You can specify the location from the "Default location for new attachment" option.

Does obsdian offer that feature? It's not what I want, I want to categorize and manage different images for different PDF.

What options do you want to have?

Because my workflow is that PDF files and md files are separate, and all my PDFs are stored in a folder, I want to have a place in that folder where I can store images that are all generated by PDFs, without mixing them up with other attachments.

Did you try "in subfolder under current folder"?

If you have a folder exclusively dedicated to PDF files, then this option will create a subfolder under that PDF folder and PDF++ will save images in the subfolder. I guess you can achieve what you want this way.

I'm not saying PDF++ will not support that option but I'm just proposing a temporary workaround.

Oh wait, I've just realized it's not enough. In our case, "current folder" can refer to the folder that the PDF lives in or the folder the the markdown is put into. So PDF++ should implement a more fine-grained options, like

  • Vault folder
  • Same folder as current PDF
  • Same folder as current markdown
  • In the folder specified below
  • In subfolder under current PDF folder
  • In subfolder under current markdown folder
