The last commit is from 2016. Is this repo still maintained? Any plans for the future?

The repo is maintained, but changes are not frequent. We have some items that are intended for a roadmap to a version 2.x, but there isn't currently a timetable for that. Is there specific functionality that isn't present that you require?

Thank you for your response @brianjmiller I am evaluating several technological choices for the next projects which is why I wanted to know if this is already abandoned. As long as there is someone who is backing this in worst case scenarios (critical bugs etc.) I am fine with it.
